Hey,

Am finishing the development of *:: JustSME UK SME Business Directory / *:: JustSME UK SME Business Directory would love any feedback on what you think, what it looks like, ease of use etc.

Hi, had a look around your site and think it looks pretty clean and it's easy to use.

A couple of things you might want to look into...

• could maybe do with some graphics/images, I know there are a couple of company logos on the site, but it just seems there is a hell of a lot of text. A couple of images, well chosen and placed would make it more visually apealling.

• the colour, mmmmm. I'm 50/50 on this, it is quite original, so stands out and has a strong impact when first arriving at the site, but the green and grey - I can't decide if they go together or not.

Anyway, good luck with the site, and I hope you get lots of people signing up!

The text is bit unformatted in some places, it will be justs images/flash on the main page instead of all text.

The colour scheme has been the same for me but decided to keep it for know as it does stand out from any similar sites.

We are now on page 1 in MSN for the search term "UK SME" or "SME UK", just below O2 and ZDNET !!!!! also on page 1 with the term "SME directory" and top of page 3 with the term "sme business" thinks are starting to fly!!

We're also number 1 in MSN.com the term "uk sme business directory"

Took a quick look - the logotext in line (ie in the paragraphs) is a bit hard to read - you might consider replacing it with text formatted the same as the rest of the paragraph.

I searched a couple of the listings in the directory and found them empty. Is this because nobody has signed up yet or are you still in the testing stage?

Hi Peter,

Thanks for the feedback, the main site is now live from this week, there is still a few things to do in some of the other member features but thats just tidying up, and like you mention the main index page needs reformatting. Hopefully you'll see the listings starting to fill over the next few weeks!

Personally, I approve of the bright colours.

That being said, I found there was an awful lot "going on", i.e. there's a lot of "movement". For instance, each time I goto a different page the logo does the typewriter thing, and the menu buttons re-appear, etc.

Yes, it's clever and eye-catching. But, too eye-catching - perhaps? I was, for example, distracted from reading the "about us" section. To me, there was just a bit too much going on.

This detracts just a little from the overall look and feel.

Hi there, good site. It was fast and consise, the colour scheme I didnt find too abrasive. Do you have natural or sponsored listing on Google yet? I think with a bit of work perhaps on the link building aspects then you could acheive a reasonable pake ranking, which would obviously make it easier to maximise your google listings or if you planned sponsored listings or ppc, to get a lower price for a higher listing. Best of luck with it though, from a consumer P.O.V I wouldnt be dis-interested in listing with you.
