Thanks for the criticsm Daffy, can't quite see what the fact that you don't like boats has to do with a website critique though.

Site has been changed.

Hi Will

I think your new site looks pretty good really, the colours are nice and they work together well.

If I had to make criticisms they would be that the site name in the masthead isn't as clear as it could be and also, because you only have one forum my eyes are drawn to what's going on section that rather than forum content itself. Where as on this forum it's really clear what the content sections are.

Sadly I don't know anything about sailing to be able to contribute to the forum itself, but I'm sure your membership will grow quickly.

Lewis

Yep point taken, it still needs a bit of work on the logo/header. Just findning the spare time at the moment, but soon!

And then I just need to work out how to grow the membership. Simple as that!

i guess the best place to start would be with local sailing clubs and things? after that possibly universities, they tend to have big sailing clubs..

maybe a press release to a sailing publication....? (sorry my girlfriend does PR so I tend to wind up thinking press releases are the solution to all problems!)

All good ideas, I was also thinking of putting adverts into sailing clubs regata magazines. But I really should try and get some free press releases first of all, if possible.

as much as i love the logo, i hate the fact that there is no information on the site that i would deem useful if i were interested in boats, you need more than just a forum, maybe an events diary and maybe even a list and pictures of all the different types of yachts there are,

to join a forum without information on what i am talking about would make me feel very small and make me want to go to other sites to find that information out, - why not keep them at your site ?

I find myself running out of time at the moment and have tended to neglect the yachting forum. Will get it promoted with more content on shortly though (hopefully).
