Hi there, I can only comment on the design and layout of the site but I think you are correct in saying site two is slightly better.

I like the fact the you have imagery in the first site as I found the second quite plain and full of type which in my opinion doesn't look very appealing and you should perhaps try and break it up in some way?

I think in order to improve the first site you should perhaps consider incorporating the header from site two, bigger and without the tabs (these do not match up with the header correctly on site one, colour doesnt match etc) and also without the picture of the piggy bank etc in the heading

On the first site you have links both in the tabs and as pictures (the bottom,) this isn't necessary, like I said I would get rid of the tabs and try and layout so the images are used as links in some way??

Its looking good to begin with, I design for primarily for print not web so am no expert but these are just things that stood out to me

Hope it helps

Susan

I prefer the second site, cleaner and lighter design. I think less can be more effective sometimes, try to avoid dark headers.

Maybe think about removing the border around the content though?

The 2nd site is a much better concept. With a little work this could be a top notch website.

thanks. i have asked on a few other forums and the concesus seems to be that the 2nd is most popular because it has no affilaite marketing on it and is more content based. I think I am going to change the 1st one and take off the ads and add more content.

What do you like about the 2nd?

Thanks for everyones opinion

I just think the 2nd looks a bit more professional.

I think your biggest problem is that some of the graphic elements and the use of type looks homemade - rather than professional.

This is a big problem for any website that is concerned with money/finances or which sell products online. Because it doesn't inspire trust in the people visiting the site. A well designed site will look professional and your customers will feel confident about you handling their money.
